VERY LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS CONTINUED

VERY LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS CONTINUED

*************

Hello my crafty friends J

So, as promised in my last blog post, I’m back with the finished journals.

To continue where I left off...

I stamped, embossed, inked and stitched onto a couple of scraps of the papers that I had used in the journals.  These became the book titles, which I then mounted onto a small piece of the burlap.

I then cut a piece of cardboard for the spine.

And glued the burlap spine piece to the covers and spine of the journal.

I dug out stamps pertinent to each journal, and stamped on all of the pages, just to add a little interest.

I added a closure.

And then tidied up the inside of the covers with pretty paper.

Added a bookmark to each journal.

Stitched in the signatures with matching ribbon.  Making sure to glue the knots (this stops the ribbon from coming undone – double faced satin ribbon wants to come undone if left to its own devices).

And there you have it.  Two very late Christmas presents DONE!!!

I have a little show and tell video on my youtube channel showing the finished journals in a little more detail, which I have included down below for you guys.

Ta ta for now

VERY LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!!

VERY LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!!

*************

Hello my crafty friends J

And a very happy new year to you!

I am struggling to get back into the swing of things, that’s for sure, and I am currently playing catch up.

I’m a very naughty Mum!  The girls (Emma and Molly, my daughters) had asked me to make them a journal each for Christmas.

Molly wanted a recipe book/journal.  Something she could stick recipes into, (recipes that she has collected from magazines etc), with a colour theme of pink.

Emma wanted a straight forward journal, with the colour theme of orange.

Simple enough you would think.  But Christmas became it’s usual berserk rush, and unfortunately the girls journals were the victim of this crazy month.

Emma and Molly were very understanding, and they’re journals are first on my list of projects to finish this year.

Sooooo the story so far ....

I took cardboard from my recycling stash to make the covers...

Next I raided my paper stash, pink/food themed papers for Molly

And orange papers for Emma

Each book has four signatures, made up from a mixture of plain and patterned matching papers.

I glued the papers onto the covers.  Once dry I added some stitch detail to them.

For the spine covers, I have taken burlap strips and stitched them together onto a piece of cotton.

And that is where we are at.

Once I have my backside into gear I will show you the finished articles ... promise!!!
